New cafe alert! And this one’s a good one..
Bean There Bistro opened shop in the new extension of Millennium Airport Hotel a couple of months ago and here’s three reasons why you need to go:
1) If you’ve been reading the blog for a while, you know we’re old Dubai girls, right? And nothing makes us happier than to see new hip places open up on our side of the hood! Ok so its not so much of a hood. Its in Garhoud which is a nice little area near the airport with the likes of Irish Village, Dubliners, Warehouse, Rodeo Grill – all of my regular haunts. The decor is rustic, earthy, with wooden furniture and greenery which could well transport you to a cafe in a tropical country, like say Bali. This is thanks to a vertical self-irrigating garden on one wall which brings the nature indoors, and the use of lots of wood, especially a long communal table in the centre. Another standout feature is a 5-metre long bar which was hand-carved from a single piece of wood imported from Indonesia. And sunlight. Lots of it.
2) Its licensed. We’re always on the lookout for a casual place to catch up with friends, to have a quiet mid-week meal, or even to just take our laptops and get some work. Bean There Bistro ticks all these boxes.
3) These bacon wrapped dates. Big sweet dates stuffed with toasted almonds, wrapped in salty bacon and topped with crumbled blue cheese. I’m a huge fan of sweet and salty but I can imagine its not for everyone. If this isn’t to your taste, the international menu has something for every palette.
Philadelphia Steak sandwich. Grilled beef tenderloin topped with sautéed onions, mushrooms, melted provolone cheese and dijon mustard
Quinoa & lentil salad and Beet & goats cheese salad
Beef chili pot served with corn bread
The restaurant is owned by Abela & Co., the same guys who also handle the kitchens in Ikea. Yup, those meatballs… so good! It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner (until 2am), and the outdoor terrace serves shisha as well – something I’m sure we’ll be doing a lot of in the next couple of months!
Go for an aperitif, share small plates and beer with friends, or hang around for dinner and dessert – Bean There Bistro is a must visit!
