It’s (one of) the oldest stories in the book. Three friends visit the beautiful island of Kauai and they had a chance to eat many a fresh, tasty thing. And in that moment, they realized that the world should eat healthy, tasty food as well. And they were going to bring this idea to world. Then they did – in the form of a restaurant named Kauai (aptly named after the place where the idea was first born).
This South African franchise was brought to Dubai by a dear friend (why yes, we do know foodie people in foodie places) and Nancy and I finally made it out there after my Body Attack class (and how it attacks the body!) one night. Given it’s all fresh and healthy, I didn’t feel too bad about this little whim. Located in Dubai Marina, this place has an awesome indoor and outdoor seating area. Given the weather has cooled down as much as it has, we decided to sit outside.
After SO MUCH contemplation, we decided on two wraps so that we could each have half and half.
The lamb kofta wrap which involves the kofta, hummus, coriander chili pesto (I know, right?), lettuce, tomato and a yogurt relish was very tasty and only made me imagine (and maybe dream about) how good the lamb kofta Bowl might be.
The Morrocan, I think might be on my list of favorite wraps! We had it with chicken and included moroccan sauce, avo spread, feta, rice, beans, coriander, carrot, tomato and spring onion. The beans and rice gave it quite the burrito feel.
Because we are who we are, we decided on two muffins to go so that we could remember the Kauai love the next morning. She had the date walnut muffin while I had took the mixed berry. They were SO TASTY, we messaged each other the next morning when we had our first bites.
The Walnut Date Muffin
Nancy being a peanut butter fiend decided on the Peanut Butter Bomb smoothie. She drank it all (maybe a tad quickly) and from what I could tell, it made her very happy. They also serve some delicious Raw coffee and I ended my meal with a delicious cappuccino.
If you are looking for a quite, laid-back night in the Marina and wouldn’t mind a tasty, quick bite, this is the place to be!
P.S. – Kauai offers a vast catering menu. I recommended them to my work place and post the order, we had many a staff and student that were gushing about how tasty the food was – (Yes another public service announcement by She Said, in the event you are ever in need of some delish catering options!)
