“I’ll eat some breakfast and then change the world”
It’s safe to say that breakfast is my most favourite meal of the day. It’s the start of a new day, a new beginning every 24 hours. I think that its much nicer to begin the day with some quality time, even better when surrounded by family and friends, or a good book – always with good food. Checking out new cafes and restaurants for breakfast in Dubai is mainly my mission in life, the icing on the cake. Then there are other times when you just want to go back to something familiar, where you know the food is going to be good, as is the service.
I’ve been frequenting Bay Square in Business Bay for a few months now and one of my favourite spots there is this gem called Pantry Cafe. You probably know of it from the Al Safa branch but honestly, that area is a mess now with construction so I just avoid it all together if I can. This branch in Bay Square though is located in what one can describe as the centre of Dubai. The area has a nice community feel – there are tonnes of home-grown restaurants and cafes, hair and nails places, a supermarket, and even one of my favourite Pilates and yoga studios – Piloga.
Pantry Cafe is the neighbourhood gourmet cafe. They have a full menu for all-day dining, to eat whatever your heart desires any time of the day. The impressive menu features appetizers, salads, burgers, steaks, sandwiches, pizza, and the best bit – a smashing breakfast menu with lots of sweet and savoury options. A top spot if you’d like to have a big family meal, catch up with your girlfriends, or to even sit with your laptop and get some work done.
The cafe also houses a retail section where you can buy some of the best gourmet foods from around the world, and a delicatessen where you can pick up croissants, bread, cakes or coffee to go. In fact, their Organic Matcha green tea is so good that I’ve stopped by to take it to go time and again after Pilates classes.
If you’re looking for a spot that serves wholesome food, in a nice communal setting, check out Pantry Cafe in Bay Square.
Here are some of our favourite breakfast dishes. I suggest you head down to Bay Square this weekend and check it out for yourselves. Go hungry!
Shakshouka – poached eggs in a spicy tomato sauce, topped with crumbled feta and jalapeños
Savoury Waffles. With creamy mushrooms, feta cheese, semi dried tomatoes, rocket, balsamic reduction. I could eat this everyday!
French Toast served with a berry compote, mascarpone, maple syrup and vanilla crème anglaise. Dessert or breakfast? Who cares!
One can never have enough coffee, or photos of coffee cups
