Voulez-vous some delicious French food ce soir?

When I first saw photos of Bistro Des Arts, a thought came to mind – “it doesn’t look like this cafe is in Dubai.” Once you’re there though, you quickly realise that it’s the perfect combo of Dubai (view of the Marina) and France (decor, music, food). You do feel like you’ve been transported elsewhere for a little while. Staycation goals, people!

I’ve been to this quaint place twice in the past month. Once for breakfast, after which I knew I had to go back and check out their full menu. I know I usually have a (not-so) deep and meaningful intro to posts but given I want to talk about two meals, I’ll jump right in.

The Breakfast

The most important meal. The most delicious meal. If you think about it, a bad breakfast could potentially ruin your entire day. It’s a good thing Bistro got it right! I got there at 8 am and sat out on the patio. As I watched people zoom by on their morning run, I couldn’t wait to eat a warm croissant and enjoy the cool winter morning instead!

To start with, we were presented with freshly baked croissants. We were specifically told they might be “too buttery” because that’s how they traditionally should be and that’s how the French like it. I rolled my head back and laughed out loud. Too much butter…is there such a thing?! They also have homemade jam to go with the croissants which is excellent.

image4I got the Eggs Benedict. Given they only have beef for breakfast meat options, I asked for it be meatless. And I totally didn’t miss the meat. That hollandaise was all I needed.

image2The friend got an order of their Breton breakfast which includes eggs, beef bacon, roasted potatoes, roasted tomatoes and salad. It also comes with a hot and cold beverage and some fresh baked bread AND a crepe for the finish. Winner!

The Lunch

I spent Christmas day with a dear friend visiting from Shanghai. I know what you’re thinking. Don’t feel bad that we didn’t have big family things planned for Christmas lunch because we most certainly had the “post Christmas meal food coma” feels after.
image6To start, we shared an order of Sea Bream Ceviche. The fish was so fresh and the flavor was perfectly light.

image7We also got Pan Fried Calamari with garlic and parsley. You know that freshly baked bread they bring to your table? Just use that as a bowl wiper for that sauce!

image4For mains, we shared the Saint-Jacques, Sauce Hollandaise which is sea scallops served with hollandaise and a leek fondue.

image1And an order of Le Carre D’agneau – roasted rack of lamb with pepper sauce.

image3We also got a Gratin Dauphinois for a side, as one does.

While we were incredibly full, we had to get dessert – it was the holidays after all.

image2Crepe Suzette – we asked them to add nutella to the crepe because nutella is everything and it was the best decision ever. Orange and nutella complement each other perfectly!

Bistro Des Arts do some great wine and bubbly pairings if you ask and the service is spot on! This place really is a winner – do check it out!
