Oodles of noodles

I love noodles. They are my comfort food. You know the instant kind that the world is moving away from because apparently they aren’t good for you? Yeah, those too. Love them! In fact, you’ll always find a stash of instant noodles in my pantry. The packet kind or the cups – it don’t matter. If it’s noodles in a soup, I will have it.

Of all the many cuisines that offer noodles in a soup, ramen is my absolute favourite. A good bowl of laksa comes a close second, but really, any noodles in soup will make me a happy girl. You get the gist?

Here is a list of places you can grab a hot bowl of noodles in Dubai if you ever need the pick-me-up!

Yui – A 10-hour simmered broth, noodles made with imported Japanese flour and locally sourced chicken, a bowl of ramen from this space with minimalist decor sure hits the spot. The tantanmen (a Japanese take on Sichuan Dan Dan noodles) with homemade spice miso is always a winner! (Dubai Design District)

Daikan – After running a pop-up shop for a period of time, this German ramen shop finally opened its doors to a very warm welcome from the neighbourhood! It’s usually pretty full which is a good indication of its popularity. I’ve tried the spicy miso and the chef’s special and both are delicious. (JLT, Cluster Y)

Lah Lah – Moving away from ramen, head over to Lah Lah for a hot bowl of their curry leaf prawn laksa. With a whole bunch of options outside this as well, it’s a tasty meal! (Zabeel House, The Greens)

Vietnamese Foodies – If you are craving a good bowl of aromatic pho, here’s your spot! (JLT, Cluster D or Tower 1, Burj Vista Residence, Downtown)

Maxzi The Good Food Shop – This grocery store/ deli/ restaurant hosts ramen nights every Wednesday and Thursday from 6pm – 9pm. I went for the kimchi and katsu ramen and really enjoyed it. (Al Shafar Investment Building, Al Qouz)

And finally, if you have the will, patience and determination to get a spot on A Story of Food‘s supper club table, you will be in for a treat. Nancy and I had the chance to experience this very talented woman’s bowl at a pop-up late last year and it was fantastic. We have tried since on a few occasions to get a spot, but no luck. While you’ve been warned, we find it our foodie responsibility to inform you of this most tasty option in town!
